#CRWN A CONVERSATION WITH ELLIOTT WILSON AND SCHOOLBOY Q

Last night was a great kick off to season two of the very popular CRWN series created by well known and respected Hip-Hop journalist Elliott Wilson.

Supportive fans filled the cozy SubCulture venue as Elliot and ScHoolboy Q sat before them on stage in chairs suited for Kings. Schoolboy Q, named after his grades and a neighbor hood pimp, openly discussed a great range of topics as he and Elliott entertained the crowd with a few jokes. Remaining humble, Q downplayed his singles "Collard Greens" and "Man of The Year" insinuating that although "they we're big, they weren't hits." As his crowd of fans disagreed he explained that he wanted the album to be single free and also informed that both songs were recored in the same night.

Elliott mentioned that Oxymoron, released last tuesday, just very well may be the #1 album in the country. Q responded by holding his index finger up as he declares it is already #1 while his fans agreed in laughter. ScHoolboy also made it known that he supported Kid Cudi, the artist he would most like to work with next (as he admits in response to a curious fan), dropped Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon the same day as Oxymoron advocating, "I got his before I got mine." Speaking more on the album the father turned rapper speaks on his daughter Joy and her contribution to his latest work of art. Though she appears on multiple songs he specifically talks about "Prescription" and how he coached her through her ears as she was speaking into the Mic, "I didn't realize how crazy it was till last week," he adds.

The West Coast rapper also talked about his past life and how big of an influence it has become on his music and this album in particular. He includes that gangsta rap is no longer the same due to everyone in the industry being too nice, "Once The Game and 50 stopped beefin' with n*ggas that ended gangsta rap," he voiced. In addition he points out that contrary to other celebrities Q dislikes hanging out in clubs and participating in other similar events that he considers to be "thirsty."

After discussing his creation of the bucket hat trend and the phrase "YAWK" along with the story behind loosing his drivers license the mic was opened for fans to ask questions. Many fans seeked advice to becoming successful with music and Q had the same answer for them all, "upload your stuff on youtube."

The night was a huge success and an extremely great opportunity. If you were unable to be apart of this amazing experience you can follow @MySpace and @watchLOUD to catch this episode of CRWN Monday.
